They Change Position Frequently And Their Cause Is Not Completely Understood is a site-sensitive installation consisting of two wall pieces which offer complementary perspectives on landscape. While one can be read as an aerial view or topographical map, the other provides a glimpse into a night sky laden with starburst-shaped advertisements. The title of the work, taken from Atlas of Landforms (U.S. Military Academy, 1974) reflects these alternating points of view. The works provide a non-traditional and semi-abstract depiction of landscape that reflects upon the interconnectedness between contemporary culture and landscape.
