Textile
This work was made in the style of a crazy quilt, a largely American trend in quilt making popular in the 1890's. Crazy quilts were historically made from wool or silk scraps from garment-making, and were hand pieced and embroidered. This work upcycles used clothing, fabric and batting scraps from my studio. How Did We Get Here? makes reference to aerial photography, satellite imagery, and abstract painting traditions.
